Hi, I’m Karin!

I am a writer, social worker, consultant, activist/advocate, and social influencer based in the sunshine state. Come explore my work to learn why I believe honest storytelling can change the world, and connect with me to learn more about how we can work together to change the way people in marginalized bodies are represented throughout society.

Here, disabled isn’t a bad thing, it's just part of the story.

I believe that sharing your story has the ability to change lives and minds.

Here at Claiming Crip, I share my story of navigating the world as a disabled, fat woman.

Here, I claim my identities and my experiences instead of hiding from them. I tell my own story, and create my own narrative, instead of living the narrative thrust upon me by others.

I believe that disability is a beautiful and valid part of life, and nothing to be ashamed of. I believe that every life has intrinsic value and worth. I believe in fighting against oppression in all its forms, and I believe we have the responsibility to listen and learn from each other's stories.

Thank you for being here, and taking this journey with me.
