Do you like something I've written or created, and want to use it in some way? Thank you so much, I'm totally honored! Here are the rules:

Copyright Notice and Terms of Use

© Karin Hitselberger and Claiming Crip, 2013-2022. Unauthorized use and/or duplication of this material without express and written permission from this site’s author and/or owner is strictly prohibited.

Short excerpts, quotes, and links may be used, provided that full and clear credit is given to Karin Hitselberger and  Claiming Crip with appropriate and specific direction to the original content.

Original images and other original content may be re-shared, republished, and reposted, with permission and proper attribution to Karin Hitselberger and Claiming Crip.

Unless otherwise noted, all images and written works on the site are created by, and property of Karin Hitselberger, or free use stock imagery.

Permission to reprint or republish my work is not guaranteed, and depending on the circumstances and nature of usage, may require fair payment.

Failure to abide by these terms may result in legal action.

You may be wondering, what does all this mean?

Basically, translated to plain language, the legal mumbo-jumbo up above is asking that you please do not copy, reprint, or republish any of my work and content without my permission.

This makes it possible for me to keep sharing and creating my writing, doing activism, and producing other creative work.

In case you're confused, here are a few quick guidelines to clarify:

Feel free to…

  • Use my articles or essays as handouts or resources for educational or learning purposes, provided that the original link and my name are included. (It’s not required, but I’d love it if you let me know what you’re using and where you’re you are using it!)

  • Cite my articles or essays in academic papers, textbooks, presentations, or related materials with appropriate citations.

  • Publish a direct link to any article or essay I’ve written. (Again, I’d love it if you let me know, but it’s not required.)

  • Republish, reprint, or quote an excerpt of no more than two paragraphs either online or in print with a direct link back and full credit to me.

Reach out to me for permission if you want to…

  • Republish, reprint, or quote an excerpt longer than two paragraphs either online or in print. Please don’t modify the work in any way without my express permission, and please be sure to credit me. I don’t guarantee permission to republish or reprint my work and reserve the right to deny any request. Also, as previously stated in the copyright and terms of use policy above, depending on the circumstances and nature of use, I may require fair payment or compensation.

  • Republish or reprint any original images including graphics and photos. Please note: graphics may be shared on social media with proper attribution and a link back to me.

Contact me to request permission. The best way to contact me is by emailing karin@claimingcrip.com.

If you send me a message on Facebook, or DM me on Instagram, there's a good chance your message will get lost or sorted as spam, and I don't want that to happen.

Therefore, if you're reaching out for business purposes, or with a source request, please try and use email whenever possible.

I check my email regularly and will try to get back to you as quickly as possible, however, if your email is particularly time-sensitive, please try to let me know in the subject line.
